An excellent location, with views of meadows, woods and the River Wye. A lot of care went into the preparation of a substantial, high quality breakfast and this was much appreciated. Slept like a log.

Once you get past the unbelievable River Wye which changes direction about three times a day(and viewable from the breakfast room)..the quaintness and history of Tintern reaches out and pulls you in. A two day stay is the minimum time to absorb all this. Easy to walk to local pubs and enjoy their warmth and the Welsh countryside. Read less

Hosts Anika and Ian strive to excel and do it graciously. They provide charisma and hospitality that almost outways the mystique of the Tintern Abbey. Homemade culinary delights will also excite!
Dislikes:
My husband thought the bed pillows were too soft and did not have enough head support...however I found them comfy. He is use to latex pillows. Remember to read the arrival instructions..4pm entry!

Comfortable bed, good breakfast menu
Dislikes:
We had booked as it was listed as a dog friendly establishment but were advised that they were not aware that we had a dog and the room for guests was not available. This was not made clear on the web
Response from Tintern Old Rectory:
Hi David,
We are a pet friendly establishment and 2of our 4 rooms are pet friendly but on the night you arrived both of these had been previously booked. You didn't mention in your online booking that you had a dog or we would have noticed. It does actually say on our room description whether it is pet friendly or not. As I am sure you are aware some people can't sleep where pets have been in the room hence the pet free rooms.
Regards,
Ian

"Beautiful home in tranquil setting"
Stayed one night only unfortunately but found the place incredibly relaxing. The house is fairly small- only three guest rooms so needs to be booked in advance and indeed I had originally wanted to stay a further night but no vacancy. The couple running the place were very friendly, the house beautiful and being continuously maintained, and the location very peaceful and tranquil. It also has sheets on the beds- not duvets as are becoming increasingly common regrettably. Breakfast was OK as well Read less

The house, the owners, the location.
Dislikes:
The only minor negative was the car parking location which across the road is not ideal. However homes beilt 250 years ago didn't tend to take account of these needs.....

It met all our needs for an overnight B&B. Private car park spot just across the road. Waking up to a superb view across the Wye on a late Spring morning.
Dislikes:
Wifi was included free of charge but not strong. The entrance to the property is up some quite steep garden steps and could perhaps pose difficulties for anyone with walking difficulties
