This was our first visit and we stayed three nights at Tower House. It was located in the heart of town near the colleges, shops and restaurants. It was only about a 10 minute walk to the railway station. The breakfasts at the Turl Street Cafe was fabulous with lots of delicious, healthy options. The room was lovely and very quiet and comfortable. Read less

"Clean and charming veg-friendly guesthouse in central Oxford"
I was in Oxford for 2 nights and appreciated Tower House's central location; I could easily walk to meetings and exhibitions all over the town centre, within minutes. The Blue Room on the 1st floor was small (understandable I guess for a single) but immaculately clean and well-appointed with an in-room sink and tea facilities. The toilet and shower room was a 1-room facility shared with rooms on multiple floors, which often meant long waits in the morning. Hopefully Tower House can rectify this. Read less

Super clean and friendly, a big plus was included breakfasts at Churl Street Kitchen on the corner. Cooked vegan breakfast (grilled portobello mushroom on sourdough toast, avocado) was scrumptious!
Dislikes:
The real disappointment was the shower, which cycled between scalding and freezing temperatures even when not adjusting the dial. Beyond inconvenient, it was hazardous. Otherwise a very nice stay!

"Little comfort for what you pay"
Overheated room, nearly impossible to open windows properly (hot weather), low ceiling. When insisting on change for second night, an air-conditioner was installed, unfortunately so that the tube didn’t blow the hot air outside the room but inside it. An air- condition should clearly have been installed properly before letting the roo-attic!- to anybody; we found this rather negligent. The argument of the staff was that she hetself couldnt sleep properly bec of the heat. ?! Customer friendliness Read less

If the idea of staying in an historic hotel in the centre of Oxford appeals,Tower House is the obvious choice.

Two of our contemporary deluxe rooms, Bastion & Foundry, are quietly tucked away in one of the 21 bastions within the 13th century 2 mile long city wall. Spacious rooms with kingsize beds, both have lovely modern bathrooms - the Foundry on the ground floor has a large walk in shower & the Bastion, up a small narrow staircase has a generous rolltop bath with a handheld shower.

If your taste is for something more modern, we have 6 stylish rooms in our 3 storey, 16th century town house on Ship Street. We are rather fond of our narrow stairs, wobbly walls and slightly uneven floors but we appreciate for the taller of our guests, 16th century architecture may be a challenge as our ceilings are pretty low.
Our bedrooms are tasteful and modern and you can choose from 3 double ensuite rooms or small doubles with a shared WC & shower room.

The Jade and Red rooms, both with kingsize beds, face onto Ship Street and although they are usually quiet, occasional reports of enthusiastic late night revelry have reached us so if you prefer something quieter, the Yellow room with a standard double bed may appeal. All three have contemporary bathrooms with shower, washbasin and WC. For guests seeking a friendlier price range, we have three lovely small double rooms - Pink, Blue and Little Blue. All three have a washbasin in the room and standard double beds and are decorated in a combination of painted and period furniture. All our rooms have flat screen TVs, tea and coffee etc and free wifi.

Out of hours check in is managed by Turl Street Kitchen where you will be served a delicious breakfast - TSK has a well deserved reputation for locally sourced, seasonal menus & the atmosphere is so chilled.
