"Characterful place to stay in Eastern Highlands"
The room was airy and cool, which we loved after staying in hotels that had been much too hot and airless, with thick winter duvets. The decor was a tad severe, with lots of dark wood and tartan, and a rather masculine four poster bed (we were in a period room), but this added to the character of the place, even though it might not have been our taste, and we liked it. The bed was comfortable and the facilities adequate. It was good value booked in advance. Read less
Likes:
We had the best Cullen skink we’ve eaten anywhere as a starter for dinner. We could open the window wide. Veggie breakfast was good.
Dislikes:
Porridge at breakfast was a bit watery and lumpy. Stuffing with roast pork main course at dinner was maybe from a packet and rather unpleasant.

Very friendly staff and great food. One member of staff even got up early on Sunday so that I could have a cooked breakfast at 7.30am before an early getaway to the hills.
Dislikes:
The kitchen was beneath my room. There was quite a lot of noise until they all packed up which was well past 11pm.

A warm Scottish welcome awaits you.

Dating from 1870, this splendid Victorian shooting lodge is set in its own grounds only two-minute’s stroll from the centre of Braemar. Best described as a hotel of character, it has the air of a large family house that has not forgotten its sporting origins, and is personally managed by the owners, thus ensuring a continuity of the finest standards.

Built of grey granite that glitters in the highland sunshine, Braemar Lodge Hotel enjoys the illustrious history of being a former Victorian shooting lodge. The local red deer population have obviously forgotten its past for they are often to be seen running through the grounds of the hotel, particularly during the winter months.

Braemar Lodge Hotel extends a welcoming, comfortable ambience that is evident from the moment you step through the door.

There are seven bedrooms, three doubles, two twins and two singles, all of which have en-suite facilities, a television and tea and coffee making facilities. Family rooms are also available.

Surrounded by the beauty of Deeside, Braemar Lodge Hotel is in a quiet setting only a two minute walk from the village itself.
