"Great service in a great location"
Alan and Alyson made us very welcome gave assistance with our luggage and showed us to a comfortable room with good view over the bay. Alan then explained how everything in the room and en suite worked. Breakfast was excellent with a very good choice all freshly cooked. We had elected to have dinner at the Dunvalanree and were delighted with the choice and quality of local produce expertly cooked by Alyson. Read less

Great hosts. Excellent food. Great location. We have eaten at a lot of Michenlin Star restaurants and felt the quality of food was well up there and reasonably priced. Good WiFi.

A fabulous setting, great wee hotel and superb hosts. Alyson and Alan bring 15 years experience, Michelin-Star comparable cuisine and a great sense of humour to this romantic hideaway in Kintyre. You will not find better in Scotland and will wish you had booked a longer stay. The all inclusive breakfast and dinner were both gourmet experiences at an extremely competitive price. The ensuite bedroom was warm, clean & comfortable with all the usual facilities together with free and effective wifi. Read less

Dunvalanree, built in 1938 with an Art Deco flavour, was upgraded in 1999 to four star. Most rooms, all individually decorated, enjoy panoramic sea views. Standing in delightful gardens on the edge of Port Righ Bay, Dunvalanree enjoys splendid views over Kilbrannon Sound, to the Isle of Arran, and around Carradale Bay and Forest. Listen ... to the sea gently lapping on the bay below the hotel.

Dunvalanree is a founding member of the Sea Food Trail, championing the very best our local waters produce. Nearly all ther food served is sourced locally and specially prepared each night for diners. All dinners are made from fresh ingredients. To reflect availabiklity the menu changes each night.

The most popular pastime amongst visitors to Port Righ is walking, and perhaps golf. Fortunately as there are so many choices, from Carradale Bay to the wind farm but walkers are likely to find it very quiet. Dunvalanree has a series of walks based at Port Righ. Some sections of the Kintyre Way are also accessible.
The area abounds in history, from Neolithic to Robert the Bruce. The Scottish nation emerged from the ancient kingdom of Dal Riada which is based around Kintyre, with Somerled, The Lord of the Isles. Saddell was home to one of the stone carving schools of west Scotland set up by Somerled.

Campbeltown is full of listed buildings. Once known as Little Glasgow reflecting the number of leading Glasgow architects tempted down to the end of Kintyre to Design and Build.

Campbeltown, once home to about 34 distilleries now has four, including Mitchells, producers not only of Springbank but also Longrow whisky which is peated.. Which is your favourite? Dunvalanree has over 60 malts so guests can enjoy a journey of discovery.

Free WiFi

After dinner enjoy a Springbank whisky and fall asleep to the sound of the sea gently lapping on the beach below.
