Berkshire,

SL6 9SQ,  United Kingdom
Our charming Country Inn (circa 1417) has been sensitively restored, with the aim of providing beautifully cosy and superbly comfortable room for our guests. Expect to see period features throughout this 15th century building that lend all rooms their exquisite charm. All rooms are made comfortable by great big beds using White Company linen and towels. The rainfall showers are the highlight of our magnificent bathrooms, many of which have underfloor heating installed as well.

"More of a restaurant than a hotel"
Weekend break to get away from it all to explore the surrounding area of Cookham and Marlow. The Bel and Dragon is more of a restaurant with rooms. There are lots of staff many of whom were unable to meet our needs with answering questions about the local area or even managing to order a taxi! Our room felt as though we had everyone sat in the bar below us in our room. The manager on duty the next morning was happy to swap our room to a room at the back which was much quieter and bigger! The location met our needs and the breakfast was tasty although the service from waiting staff wasn't the best, youngsters not sure what they should be doing.
Dislikes:
The room we stayed in (named Stanley) was tiny for the price! It was at the front of the building meaning that there was a lot of noise from the traffic and people smoking outside.

"It was basically a sauna"
We wer very much looking forward to staying with you, but were sorely disappointed. Why is it so hot?! All the windows open, so lots of noise from the road - bu it was truly the hottest room I have ever been in, probably got about 2 hours sleep and couldn't wait to get out of there.
coming down to breakfast in the morning the radiator at the bottom of the stairs was on full! In july! You guys need to sort it out. Read less

One of the oldest Coaching Inns in England, Bel & The Dragon Cookham sits on the village's picture postcard High Street, a short walk from the Thames Path and under a 30 minute drive from Central London.

Following wholesale refurbishment, Bel & The Dragon combines 600 years of history with the best in modern British cuisine. The menu is created by award-winning Head Chef, Ronnie Kimbugwe, who previously spent 7 years with Gordon Ramsay and was most recently the Senior Sous Chef of Gordon Ramsay at Claridges. His passion for the finest seasonal fare, sourced from local & sustainable ingredients, is immediately obvious. It is also complemented by the inclusion of a rotisserie for the very best Roast Chicken, Creedy Carver Duck or the signature spit roasted Suckling Pig.

And then there is the Josper Grill, which cooks at up to 600°C and is compared to an indoor barbeque. Since, it has transformed restaurant kitchens forever, with early converts already including Gordon Ramsay at the Savoy Grill and Heston Blumenthal at Dinner at the Mandarin Oriental.

Wine lovers are warmly welcome to enjoy one of the best cellars in Berkshire, stocked with only the best vintages at extraordinary prices. The special Cellar list has been created to provide amazing value for money between £55- £95 per bottle, for some of the best wines ever produced.
