Likes:
A very friendly, and sociable pub atmosphere, and the landlord could not have been friendlier.
Dislikes:
The accommodation cottage needs a bit of decoration/decor-updating, and the stairs would be a challenge to someone with limited mobility, but the facilities in the bedrooms themselves were very good.

"Thoroughly Impressed With The Carpenters Arms"
We chose to stay in Newbury as we were on the road, heading to Oxford the next morning. The price was good, and the reviews we saw beforehand were positive, so we booked The Carpenters Arms having not stayed there before. From the friendly reception at 10pm in the pub, to the clean and comfortable room, to the nice breakfast with good views, this was an excellent find. Read less
