"hotel with potential, not yet realised."
A pleasant , slightly muddled and slow sign-in. Helpful member of staff took us to our room that wasnt ready but we were able to leave our bags etc and prepare for the wedding. It was not a family room in my opinion, 3 single beds took up all the space, so no room for bedside table or lights. The room had been a double the night before. The family room at the Premier Inn the previous night was twice as big and half the price, 30 mins away. Read less

The new owner wants a well run hotel and is looking to expand but I think he should concentrate on improving the rooms he already has and his system of allocating rooms. friends also had problems.
Dislikes:
If the room had been modernised and a proper size for 3 people there would have been no complaints. Very dark and too much furniture.

The George Hotel is now under new management and has benefited from many improvements in response to the reviews submitted in recent years.

For example, we are proud to say that our work has resulted in a Food Standards Agency top award of 5 stars (out of 5) from the West Berkshire Council. We have introduced BT Sport in our bar for those that want to enjoy their favourite games.

Our two car parks are free for residents (subject to availability), and there are also local public car parks (charges may apply).

A traditional coaching inn dating back to the 17th Century, the hotel is full of olde English charm and character. Situated in the beautiful Thameside village of Pangbourne, Berkshire, the location is ideal for those seeking to enjoy the beauty of the riverside and the village. The hotel is also great for business people, with convenient access to Reading and Oxford. Pangbourne is on the train line between London and the West country.

The hotel has 23 en-suite rooms, all with TV, coffee/tea facilities and free internet access. Rooms are graded as Standard or Superior, as well as one Honeymoon Suite complete with a four poster bed. Children are welcome with specially designed family rooms to make your stay even more comfortable. The sympathetic treatment of each unique room has successfully retained the Hotel's original character. All bedrooms are named after a character or place from the Wind in the Willows in honour of the author Kenneth Grahame, a resident of Pangbourne in the 1920s.
