The welcoming & friendly staff. The pub food was excellent and good value for money.
Dislikes:
Althought the cooked breakfast choice was good, there was a very limited choice of continental breakfast.

"A lovely weekend break in West Wycombe"
Ever since her early days my wife had wanted to visit West Wycombe and see the H3ll Fire Caves and Mausoleum. Staying in WW means staying at the George and Dragon and we were not disappointed. On arrival we had a brief wait for the room but we were early and it meant we could try a lovely local beer from the Rebellion Brewery. The four poster room and just what I expected for a 300 year old building. The staff couldn't do enough to help us during the stay and the food was excellent. Read less

Dislikes:
The tv in the room was very small but it is a minor consideration.

Likes:
Large room and very comfy bed. Excellent chef - particularly for evening meals
Dislikes:
Carpets (stairs and bedroom) needed cleaning, button on jacuzzi bath didn't work, two bulbs not working in bedroom and lack of a reception area on arrival. Also extremely difficult to find the way in!

Through a cobbled archway on West Wycombe High Street, you come to the entrance of a coaching inn built in the early 18th Century. When you walk in, it feels quite natural that people have been doing this for almost three centuries. Generations of traders, travellers, lovers and visitors have left traces of their presence on the building and its atmosphere, not least of whom is Sukie, the beautiful social climber whose ghost is said to haunt the building.

The attentive service you receive from our staff, however, leaves you in no doubt that you are in the present now. Whether you hope for quick service for a business lunch or a more relaxed pace for dinner with friends, you will not be disappointed. On a fine day, you can sit in our large garden where there is a children's play area.

You can stay at the George and Dragon, and will find your bedroom both comfortable and interesting. Two of the rooms have four-poster beds and all of them have the uneven floorboards and quirky angles that come with age. One room straddles the archway into the inn's courtyard and another gives a view over the old roofs and chimneys of West Wycombe. Recent concessions to modern living include direct dial telephones, en-suite bathrooms, tea and coffee making facilities and sky TV.

We have three full-time chefs who create an intriguing menu which is English at heart including local game, English cheeses, traditional puddings and lamb from the local estate. Some menu items and daily specials will represent the chefs' selection from the rest of the world and may include dishes from the Mediterranean and the Far East. As you would expect from an establishment where good dining is such a high priority, we also have a choice of well kept real ales, an excellent wine list and a fine range of malt whiskies.
