On the whole it was ok, nothing fantastic, but not really bad either. The weather was kind-although there was a heavy downpour overnight! There was a function on at The Manor and the restaurant menu was limited. The Manor staff arranged for us to go The Hayloft-highly recommended! Mickey the owner of The Manor drove us down, by way of an apology for the restricted menu, due to the function, he was very sweet.
The lake, woods, ponds and the gardens were lovely, although in need of a little TLC Read less
Likes:
The surroundings were beautiful, tranquil and very relaxing. It was a bit of a surprise to see Peacocks roaming freely, but quite enchanting.
Dislikes:
We felt the write up was slightly misleading.Yes we had our four poster bed & bath..just no hot water to have one!The room itself was very small and the bathroom extremely cramped and badly designed.

Great Trethew Manor is set in the heart of the countryside, surrounded by 40 acres of beautiful gardens, woodlands and meadows. The only access is a delightful half mile drive.

Bordered with many lovely trees and shrubs. There are many woodland and garden walks which harbor a wide variety of wildlife including, Woodpeckers, Jays, Nut Hatches, Pigeon, Pheasant, Partridge, Snipe, Kingfisher, Heron, Fox, Rabbits. Badgers and occasional Deer.

Inside the Manor we have a large character bar and restaurant with a beamed ceiling, flag toned floor and log fires when the evenings get chilly. The Restaurant with candle lit tables and roaring log fires in the winter offers an A La Carte Menu to suit everybody's taste as well as a Specials menu and bar snacks. We serve top quality food from the harbour, the farm and the game keepers larder. New this year we are offering our amazing Volcanic Lava Stones.

Within the grounds we have a fish ponds, trout lake, croquet lawn, barbecue area, Lakeside BBQ, pony trekking, animal feeding area, trampline, bouncy castle and garden games and plenty of room for the children to play.

Guests wishing to participate in pony trekking please make a note of this at the time of booking. This will avoid dissapointment if we are fully booked when you arrive.

Roaming the grounds we have several peacocks some of ours and others from accross the valley as they are free to roam the nearby area as they please.

We also have a free car park on site, which guests are welcome to use at their own risk.

The cottages are one a minutes walk from the hotel and offered on a self catering basis, and electricity is charged on card meters.

There are nearby beaches for everybody some small and edged with rock pools, others just long curves of pristine sand and pounding surf. For a good family beach with traditional seaside activities where you can hire a boat or enjoy a cream tea, Looe, as well as Seaton & Downderry provide a perfect setting.

We do not allow pets in the hotel, but any pets are more than welcome in the self catering cottages
