"Coast2coast cycling stop-over"
For a country pub the food is comparable to many decent restaurants and better than many high end hotels ... and I stay in quite a few with work. Fantastic stop over for the Coast2Coast or just general sightseeing round the Pennines. Added bonus is that it is right next store to the best little bike shop in the North Pennine Cycles. Get your bike fixed, tuned, etc. Breakfast really, evening menu great, rooms great. Don't expect the Hilton ... but for what it is it's one of the best I've stay Read less

Probably the fact it will already be booked up next time I come to book it :)
Slight 'stranger danger' from the locals in the bar ... but that's more amusing than anything. Staff really friendly
Response from The Miners Arms:
Thank you for the high praise and entertaining review. We’re glad you enjoyed your stay with us and hopefully we’ll see you again soon!

The room was really good - a great en suite bathroom. The food in the pub was good - but the staff could do with a bit of training in how to provide a service. One guest asked what exactly was in the Vegetarian Risotto - only to be met with a roll of the eyes - no words ! - and a stomp off to the kitchen to find out the answer !!! Read less

Response from The Miners Arms:
Thank you for your review, i’m extremely sorry about the member of staff, they have since received furher training. I’d usually do front of House and was away that weekend. I can only hope that you weren’t treated in the same way, and that this experience won’t discourage you from visiting us again.

In the heart of the North of England you will find The Miners Arms set within an area of outstanding natural beauty. If you like excellent food, great beer, the warm feel of wood burning fires, and friendly family hospitality, or you just like drinking at altitude – you must try The Miners Arms.

We have been at the pub for almost thirty years, and we are a family run business. We believe in providing our guests with comfort, good food, good beer and good company.

Since buying the pub in 1988 we have worked extremely hard to transform it into a: Pub, B&B, and Restaurant that people will be excited to visit. In 2005 we built our lovely conservatory/restaurant, where guests can dine away from the hubbub of the main bar. Then in 2007 we converted our bunkhouse into two beautiful en-suite guest rooms, with all the trimmings. More recently we have been working on changes to the main bar; knocking down the old toilets and replacing them with a much bigger, stylish build.

If you decide to book in with us, we can guarantee excitement; whether it's a live music night, a quiet walk in the beautiful surroundings, or even a lively chat with one of our locals, we promise you won't be bored.

So whether you're looking for a comfortable nights stay, a quick drink, or a three course meal, we will always be happy to welcome you.
