"Excellent little hotel, pleasantly sited"
I stayed here one night with 3 companions whilst walking the Coast to Coast. A cycleway/footpath runs straight past the back of the hotel and offers an alternative deviation off the more recognised route (leave at the Parkside level crossing before reaching the hotel). We had a triple room with breakfast and it was of a high standard. Read less
Likes:
The hotel was very clean and well-appointed with a pleasant view from our room across the valley. The food was of a high standard, the cask beer very good and the staff very friendly.
Dislikes:
Just make sure you take your (muddy) boots off in the hallway. The stairs and rooms are nicely carpeted!

Able to have breakfast early & hence get to the circuit on time.

Food was good + staff friendly.
Dislikes:
I had the thai prawn noodle broth one evening and whilst nice the portion was too huge + over-facing....was probably enough for three people! Don't change what you serve but do sensible size portions
