No matter who you are Ben,Jan & the staff make you feel at home as do the locals. We stay here as it's an excellent stopover before heading home on the boat as the Boot & Shoe is only an hour away from the ferry terminal. Read less

We were a family of adults staying here. When booking I was told that both rooms had showers they didn’t. The room that didn’t had a sprinkler system that was blocked with black mould. The rooms were also very dated and cob webs everywhere. When we arrived and taken to our rooms they smelt of chip fat. food was nice although please consider a vegan breakfast option as there was no alternatives. Bar was overcrowded and furniture hd seen better days. Staff were friendly and helpful. Read less

"Overpriced, a huge disappointment -low budget at luxury rate."
Making our way home from Surrey and on a recommendation by friends who had eaten but not stayed here, decided to have an overnight at the Boot and Shoe. Small refund for no breakfast due to a power cut. Couldn't use the bathroom facilities since no hot water or light. Dinner underwhelming and ruined by infestation of flies. We contacted the innkeeper prior to posting the review. He appreciated our feedback but was not prepared to offer any further compensation. Read less

When we arrived there was live music which we did enjoy.
Dislikes:
Bathroom facilities poor - 2 sachets of bath gel. No shower. Bedroom carpet poor quality and stained. Poor quality furniture and furnishings - throw on bed had obviously been burnt.

The Boot and Shoe is a traditional family owned village pub, situated in Greystoke Cumbria, a stones throw away from the Lake District National Park.

We provide a friendly welcoming service with traditional homemade food and locally produced real ale as well as a wide selection of wines and spirits. The pub is an old coach house steeped in history and we are located in the centre of Greystoke on the village green.

Ideally located on the coast to coast cycle route, why not book a room while on route or perhaps you wish to visit the home of Tarzan or visit the Gordon Richards stables.

Whatever your desires call into The Boot and Shoe and relax with a drink and some delicious homemade food. We have a lot to offer with good food, drink and comfortable accommodation available so call in and enjoy the friendly hospitality.
