"A wonderful stay"
We stayed one night en route to Scotland from Yorkshire. The location meant we could reach it easily from the A66. The room was beautiful with lovely views and was quiet. The bed was so comfortable with extremely good quality linen. Shower was state of the art and lovely toiletries provided. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Best of all....the standard of the dinner and breakfast. Friendly place where guests chatted with each other. Very relaxed atmosphere. Read less

Response from Temple Sowerby House Hotel & Restaurant:
Delighted you enjoyed your short stopover, we have many guests doing the same until they realise they don't have to slog all the way up to Scotland....they can just stop here and explore England's 'most beautiful valley'! Seriously, we much appreciate your comments and very happy that you enjoyed your stay so much. You're right that TSH seems to respond to people and guests always end up chatting, and frequently discovering mutual friends.....it's a small world! Thanks again and see you soon.

The Eden Valley is an area of outstanding natural beauty between the English Lake District and the Pennines and one of it's finest, and most peaceful, villages is Temple Sowerby, home to Temple Sowerby House Hotel. Dating back to 1700's, and now with just 12 individually styled bedrooms, elegant reception rooms, a peaceful walled garden and an award-winning restaurant. Our restaurant has been awarded Two AA Rosettes and offers a superb range of local produce including lamb from the fells, beef and pork from nearby farms, game from neighbouring estates, seafood from the north-western coast and regionally produced cheeses. The beauty of the English Lake District, especially Ullswater, the wild and rugged terrain of the Pennines and the sublime rural landscapes of the Eden Valley are just some of the outstanding natural attractions to be experienced from Temple Sowerby House. The quiet roads are ideal for touring or cycling whilst the countryside and fells provide excellent walking opportunities for all ages and abilities. The River Eden itself has some of the best trout fishing in the country. Please Note: Check in Time 15:00, Check out 11:00am. Pets and children under 12 not permitted.
