"En suites need updating and saniflow needs attention"
Overall was good. The room was clean with everything you would expect. The ensuite was very tired and the toilet and basin and shower were connected to a macerator which was very noisy with a bad drain smell coming from the basin drain after each use. We didn't flush during the night because of the noise . Unfortunately other residents did flush, often, so my sleep to was disturbed many times. It was a shame because otherwise was good value for money. Read less

The Soldier Dick is a charming, quintessential 18th century coaching inn located with the glorious Peak District National Park.

It's positioning on the main A6 Buxton to Stockport route affords fantastic transportation links to nearby towns of Buxton and Stockport along with the smaller villages of Whaley Bridge, New Mills and Chapel En Le Frith. There is also a direct train service running from Buxton to Manchester Piccadilly, Furness Vale train station is located a stones throw away from our front door. Not to mention there is the fantastic bus service, conveniently the bus stop is directly outside our front door and spans services from Buxton to Manchester Airport or Manchester City Centre.

Once you've got here, you will be greeted with all of the Peak Districts splendour and glory. The stunning scenery is everywhere around and we are only a short distance away from the likes of Blue John Cavern, The Chestnut Centre and the idyllic villages of Castleton and beyond. The area offers fantastic walks and wildlife, whether that be locally along the canal through Furness Vale marina or beyond to the Kinder Scout National Nature Reserve.

The Soldier Dick prides itself as being a place to rest tired feet in front of the open fire after a long days walk or for one of our fantastic Sunday lunches. The bar is open daily from 12pm and food is served weekends only Friday 5-8:30pm, Saturday 12-8:30pm and Sunday 12-6:30pm. Booking is advisable during peak service times but not always necessary, we will always do our best to find you a comfortable seat within the house.

Please note we are an accommodation only provider and therefore breakfast is not available on site. We can however recommend a number of fantastic local cafes and eateries for fulfilling your breakfast requirements.
