"A lovely break"
We had decided to see if a one night stay in the Peak District felt like a 'real' break (only about 30 miles from home), and spent a good few hours researching where to stay. Our 'experiment' felt like a resounding success. The Bulls head was a really great place to stay, to eat, to rest....and was in a brilliant location. We made the most of a walk on the Monsal Trail the next day, and explored Tideswell...we even stopped at Chatsworth Farm shop on the way home! Read less

Very pleasant. Per your website, the Mortons were landlords between 1793 and 1887. These Mortons are my ancestors. My great grandfather ran the Inn for a period of time and my great aunt was born there.

It was exciting to see where my family came from: Foolow and Eyam. My great grandfather was living in Stoney Middleton when we went to America. Read less

Nice room, good food and friendly people. The manager put me in contact with two local historians who were able to provide information about my family.

The inn has flagstone floors, roaring open fires and an inglenook fireplace in the oak panelled dining room. A very warm welcome is extended to all - casual passers-by, walkers and their dogs, and visitors to the Peak District.

In the bar you will find traditional cask beers, and a good selection of malt whiskys and wines from around the world to suit all tastes. We offer a large choice of bar meals, but you may prefer to linger a while and take advantage of our oak panelled, candle-lit restaurant which offers an interesting and comprehensive menu.

We offer dishes from the regular menu such as minted lamb casserole and plaice with mushroom sauce, plus "specials" such as roast sea bass with fennel, and wild boar steak with orange game sauce.

Our three superb en-suite bedrooms offer comfortable and private accommodation with a personal access and small sitting area. In addition to one twin/double and one double room we can offer a large family room which can sleep up to four and which boasts a superb 4-Poster bed.

Come and enjoy the quiet luxury of a night in a country inn, a first class restaurant downstairs and the tranquil beauty of the village through which to stroll
.
As we are small family run country inn and do not open all day every day arrivals between 3.00 pm and 6.30pm need to telephone us for more information.
