Our second visit, after a very happy stay last year. This is a lovely old pub with adjoining bedroom : two doubles and one twin. The rooms have all the essentials without being ostentatious - fine for a few days.
Out-of-season, the evening menu is restricted but they laid on a special for my wife, cooked just as she likes it. A very decent range of well-priced house wines and fine range of well-kept beers.
None of this is "three stars" but all of it will make us want to return. Read less

This is exactly what a village pub should be: aged but cosy, with a strong local following, clearly offering what the locals want but welcoming visitors. The landlord is delightful .

We stayed for two nights and ate both nights in the pub. Although for good reason the menu is not as extended as it was on a previous stay, it was well balanced, well cooked and delicious. I could happily have worked my way through the menu with more time. Read less

A very warm welcome and being recognised from a previous visit .
Very dog friendly.
Good position in attractive village.
Friendly helpful staff and relaxed easy atmosphere.
Good food in am and eve
Dislikes:
Room was very comfortable with all we needed but a little noise between rooms occasionally. Not a major problem and would stay there again without hesitation. Would also feel happy to go on my own.

The Dolphin Inn is a beautiful 16th century olde worlde country pub. It is nestled twixt Dartmoor and the coast in the heart of the South Hams near Bigbury on Sea. Featured in the AA Good Pub Guide 2008. The Dolphin Inn serves a selection of home cooked meals using local produce and offers bed and breakfast accommodation in a traditional building opposite the pub.

Take a table by the inglenook fireplaces and sample some warm hospitality and a glass of wine or some Real Ale or sit out in the garden before exploring the stunning South Devon Coastline. For instance, there is a circular two and half hour walk from the pub encompassing woodland, the estuary, the coast path and farmland.

We are located in the village of Kingston with its thatched cottages, just one mile from the lovely Erme Estuary and Wonwell beach. For the adventurous, the Dolphin Inn is close to tourist beaches with surfing and windsurfing facilities. Fishing trips can also be arranged from the Erme Estuary and we are within a few miles of three golf courses.
