A lovely old 15th century inn with bags of character. It is run by a friendly couple Paul & Jacquie who have recently taken it over and make great efforts to make you feel at home. The food is very good with lots of local produce and a varied menu to suit all tastes. Comfortable rooms again with a nice mix of character & contemporary. Read less

Breakfast was nice (continental hamper)but what a shame to not have the option of a cooked breakfast in such a beautiful pub and to actually have a table to sit at instead of eating in your bed

After a good night's sleep, start your day with a delicious Devon breakfast served in the snug. Our cooked breakfast options are freshly prepared to order - Our eggs are free range as is the Gloucester Old Spot pork sausage, grilled bacon and black pudding with field mushrooms and vine tomatoes - freshly picked from our garden during summer. When dining with us we will only ever serve you food we'd be happy to be served ourselves, which is why all our chicken & eggs are free-range, so is our pork. Our steak is 28 day hung Dartmoor beef and we avoid air-freighting fruit & vegetables by buying seasonal & British produce wherever possible.

Guests and visitors to the area are presented with a wealth of activities and attractions within walking distance, from coarse fishing at Combe Fisheries to the glorious Buckland Abbey, once home to Sir Francis Drake and now owned by the National Trust. The colourful labour of love that is the Garden House is in nearby Buckland Monochorum and the surrounding area plays host to many studios, galleries and craft centres open to the public.
A little further afield is the historic town of Tavistock with its Pannier Market and delightful range of independent boutiques, galleries and specialist shopping. Plymouth is a mere 15 minutes drive, with its unique naval history.
