This is not a luxury hotel and does not pretend to be and the price reflects that. However, the room was comfortable, clean and well decorated. The breakfast menu was exceptional for a small family run establishment. Apart from the usual Full English there was smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, smoked haddock, waffles, etc. I had the Eggs Benedict was beautifully prepared with the freshest of eggs cooked to perfection!

As attending wedding asked for room early if possible. No problem. Read less

"Very welcoming, great food, wine and beer"
We were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble to accomodate last minute requests.
The little things like a jug water on the table without asking.

Each of our five bedrooms are en-suite, individually designed and decorated with all of the comforts and touches that you would desire. Most rooms have impressive views of the surrounding countryside and there is also ample parking in the grounds of the hotel. All rooms are non-smoking.

The restaurant offers a wide variety of quality dishes using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. The bar serves an interesting selection of real ales, beers and wines and the accommodation offers seven contemporary en-suite rooms.

The Ship’s unique ambience and stylish but warm décor, offers ample opportunity to relax away from it all - whether you are simply dropping in for a drink or bite to eat, or staying for business or pleasure.

The bar area has two sections - The Main Bar with a traditional flagstone floor, low ceiling and roaring log fire and the Lounge Bar which is light and airy with stripped oak floorboards and chunky farmhouse furniture.

There is an extensive selection of beers, ciders & wines available, with tapped real ales on offer from three local breweries and a guest ale that changes weekly. Recent guest ales have included the likes of Butcombe, Exmoor Gold, Otter Ale, Bath Ales, Spitfire and Timothy Taylor.

We offer an interesting and varied wine list ranging from the more well known classic French wines, through to the ever popular New World wines.

The versatile menu at The Ship caters both for those who want a hearty sandwich and a pint, to those who want to enjoy a full three-course meal with a decent bottle of wine. Our dishes are a blend of the traditional and the not so familiar, with a specials board and fresh fish board that offer further daily choices.

We pride ourselves on using local and seasonal ingredients as much as possible and all dishes are freshly prepared and cooked to order. We also offer a children’s menu, or any dish on the menu is available at a child’s sized portion.
