The food was amazing ad spot on. Try the eggs Benedict in the morning, you won't be sorry.
Dislikes:
The room was right over the bar, so I could hear some noise form underneath, but it was relatively quickly quiet, when the people left around 10 PM or so. Then I was able to sleep in peace.

"Invite to Golden Wedding Anniversary"
My sister and I drove down with my parents from Kent to Gillingham, Dorset to attend a Golden Wedding Anniversary. We chose the Ship Inn as it was near to the venue and were very pleased with the rooms and friendly service we received. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant on our first evening and an enjoyable breakfast the next morning. We were made to feel very welcome and would certainly stay here again when we next visit our relatives. Read less

Each of our five bedrooms are en-suite, individually designed and decorated with all of the comforts and touches that you would desire. Most rooms have impressive views of the surrounding countryside and there is also ample parking in the grounds of the hotel. All rooms are non-smoking.

The restaurant offers a wide variety of quality dishes using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. The bar serves an interesting selection of real ales, beers and wines and the accommodation offers five en-suite rooms.

The Ship’s unique ambience and stylish but warm décor, offers ample opportunity to relax away from it all - whether you are simply dropping in for a drink or bite to eat, or staying for business or pleasure.

The bar area has two sections - The Main Bar with a traditional flagstone floor, low ceiling and roaring log fire and the Lounge Bar which is light and airy with stripped oak floorboards and chunky farmhouse furniture.

There is an extensive selection of beers, ciders & wines available, with tapped real ales on offer from three local breweries and a guest ale that changes weekly. Recent guest ales have included the likes of Butcombe, Exmoor Gold, Otter Ale, Bath Ales, Spitfire and Timothy Taylor.

We offer an interesting and varied wine list ranging from the more well known classic French wines, through to the ever popular New World wines.

The versatile menu at The Ship caters both for those who want a hearty sandwich and a pint, to those who want to enjoy a full three-course meal with a decent bottle of wine. Our dishes are a blend of the traditional and the not so familiar, with a specials board and fresh fish board that offer further daily choices.

We pride ourselves on using local and seasonal ingredients as much as possible and all dishes are freshly prepared and cooked to order. We also offer a children’s menu, or any dish on the menu is available at a child’s sized portion.
