The chef's vegetables were just amazing!
Dislikes:
The fan and light that come on in the bathroom run for a long time triggered by a sensor - if you get up to use the bathroom at night it's a long time before they go off.Would be nice to shut them off

"Great location and very friendly service"
We stayed at the Crown for three nights in early November during a short stay in Dorset. We arrived late after a long flight and the staff were extremely helpful in staying up after midnight not let us in. The room was comfortable and clean and all things functioned well.
We would definitely stay at The Crown again. Read less

The staff were accommodating with our late arrival and extremely helpful during our short stay. Food was good and the portions generous. Hosts Monty & Gemma run a good establishment.

"Cosy comfortable weekend"
My partner and I were down from London to visit my mum, who's in a care home in Stalbridge. We wouldn't normally choose to stay in Marnhull but had a hire car and knew the pub already from previous visits for meals. The pub made a good base for us as it's not far from Stalbridge. We had dinner there both evenings, which was convenient. Read less

It's a really lovely old pub with a thatched cottage, there's a good atmosphere – especially on the Saturday night when there was a log fire! The room was cosy and the breakfast was delicious.
Dislikes:
The TV was in an awkward place; it would be better mounted on the wall facing the bed. Or if two comfy chairs were provided. The pipes made a horrendous noise in the night if we went to the loo!

The Crown at Marnhull is steeped in history. It has been used as a pub and has been serving customers since the time of King Henry the eighth. The thatched part of the building dates back to the 16th century and has as far as possible remained untouched. A priest hole is still visable in the bar that linked the pub to the nearby St Gregory`s church. Thomas Hardy was a frequent visitor to The Crown and the pub features in his most famous novel, Tess of the D`urbervilles as ` The Pure Drop Inn` situated in the village of Marlot (Marnhull).

Nowadays, The Crown boasts 7 en suite letting bedrooms. Spacious and fully equipped, huge fluffy towels, flat screen HD TV`s with Freeview, tea and coffee making facilities, room safe, free WIFI, power showers and deep roll top baths or a wet room supplied with toiletries.

In our pub we are open 12:00pm - 11:30pm and you will find food served 12pm - 9pm. We use only the freshest local ingredients that Dorset`s fine larder has to offer. Our eggs are all free range, vegetables are used in season and we try to cut out food miles by buying fresh and local. All our dishes are homemade and cooked to order from first principle.

The main bar `The Pure Drop Inn` is open all day serving quality real ales, wines and soft drinks or even just a coffee by the roaring log fire.
