I cannot begin to say enough. The Ellangowan is a true gem! The atmosphere and history of the building is wonderful as is the town. Very quaint and quite and sometimes that is just what one needs to get away from the crazy of big city life. Sharing conversation with the bartender, staff, and locals was wonderful. I was amazed to see how hard everyone worked, especially the bartender!, to give me a pleasant stay and the sincerity of the people was just great!! Read less

The people and staff are what makes this hotel tops. I want to say a huge thanks to the bartender, dinner cook, and morning cook. You all made my stay amazing. A special thanks to the bartender!!!
Dislikes:
Nope- everything was amazing. You guys are the tops. If I had to select one thing though I would suggest a sign in the window to call if arriving before you open. But truly a wonderful place, thanks!

The exits are locked at night you can't get out until staff arrive in the morning which is a bit worrying esp in the event of a fire

"So much potential but needs serious investment"
Stayed here for three nights in mid September 2017. I had room 11, a twin room on the first floor. The room was in an absolutely terrible state. The beds were okay, and the linen was clean, but other than that there wasn't much else to rave about. It clearly had not been deep cleaned for a while, there were cobwebs in the corner, the windows were filthy, and there was a leak in the ceiling. There were some floorboards missing, and the TV was far too small. There was also mould in the shower. Read less

The chef who did breakfast was a lovely guy (didn't get his name) but was happy to prepare anything that was requested.
The cleaner also seemed like a lovely lady.
Dislikes:
This hotel needs new ownership desperately. It needs a major renovation to bring it up the standards demanded of even basic modern hotels. Creetown is a lovely village and deserves better than this!
