"Brilliant hotel for normal folk and cyclists on NCN7"
Stayed overnight in this quiet, tidy village on a cycling trip. The welcome could not have been warmer. The hotel bar is the only pub in the village so it’s a proper locals bar but we were made to feel very welcome. Don’t count on eating here, the pub usually does simple bar meals but the chef was off sick the night we stayed, so eat in Newton Stewart before you come. Avoid the Lairds Inn on the caravan park at the other end of the village, the food is dire. Hotel is basic but we loved it. Read less
Likes:
Huge room, quiet location even though on Main Street, Mark telling us about local history at breakfast, having a drink with the locals in the evening. The hotel is late Victorian, retains its characte
Dislikes:
Limited food options in the village.
