Likes:
Very friendly welcome on arrival (owners dogs included). Excellent evening meal - good honest pub food at reasonable prices. Breakfast excellent too, cooked to order and good selection.
Dislikes:
Although nicely decorated, rooms were a bit small and crowded. The bathrooms would definitely benefit from updating.
Response from The Auldgirth Inn:
Thank you for taking time to review us, the rooms are currently being refurbished and bathrooms will follow

Welcome to the Auldgirth Inn, a warm and inviting small hotel, set in the wonderfully picturesque Nithsdale valley. Built in the 1500's the Auldgirth Inn began as a sanctuary for Monks as they travelled from Melrose to Galloway. It has since been a Blacksmiths and a fishing bar before being transformed into the traditional pub/hotel familiar to many nationwide.

Even Robert Burns himself, has enjoyed the hospitality of the Auldgirth Inn over 2 centuries ago; and today we hope that you too can enjoy that same hospitality that is still abundant today.

The Inn offers spendid accommodation for your stay. Three of the rooms have en-suite facilities and are exceptionally well maintained. The old blacksmiths bar has lost none of its unique charm over the centuries. With arched windows, thick oak beams and the most inviting of log fires, it couldn't be any more relaxing.

The beautiful landscape of Dumfries & Galloway is the perfect place to find things to see and do, from historic castles to mountain biking centres. Discover the region's culture with sculptures and art galleries, and look out for rare and unusual wildlife.Less than half a mile from some of the best sea-trout and salmon beats that the river Nith has to offer, as well as some well stocked rainbow trout lochs well offer permits and local information on beat reports.Exellent pheasant shooting and deer stalking can be found on the neighbouring estates,Dalswinton, Blackwood and Drumlanrig
