The Punch Bowl Inn is situated in the quiet village of Edmundbyers, about 2.5 miles from the A68 on the road to Blanchland and Stanhope in the Wear Valley. A five minute walk takes you up to wide open fells with excellent chances of seeing a considerable variety of wild life from Red Grouse to Red Kites, Pheasants to Partridges and a vast number of hill sheep to send you off to sleep!
Only half an hour to Newcastle or Durham and 5 minutes from Derwent Sailing Club.
How to Find Us
Riding Mill Train Station(approx 10 miles)
Turn left out of the station next to the Wellington pub and continue to a roundabout. Take the third exit (A68) heading south for approximately 7 miles. Turn right on to the B6278 Stanhope/Blanchland for another 2.5 miles. The Punch Bowl is centrally situated in the village of Edmundbyers.
A68 Road(approx 2.5 miles)
Take the B6278 road to Stanhope/Blanchland, taking care crossing the bridge in front of the dam. It is approached blind from both directions, is narrow and there is no accepted right of way. The Punch Bowl is centrally postioned in the village of Edmundbyers
Consett Bus Station(approx 10 miles)
Very limited bus service with only three a day in each direction! Best to get a taxi!
