"Friendly folks, fantastic food"
I used the hotel as a base for exploring Upper Teesdale; spending a lot of time outdoors in cold, wet and windy conditions. Every member of staff (not just the "front of house") was very friendly, and knowledgeable about the local area. I was made to feel very welcome, almost a part of the family so-to-speak. Read less

The real fire in the bar was very welcoming after a day spent outdoors in inclement weather. Both the full English breakfast and the varied selection of evening meals were of an excellent standard.
Dislikes:
Nothing at all

Excellent hotel in the very best location in the county.
My wife and I and another couple of senior citizens stayed for two nights this week. The welcome, the friendliness, the hotel, the food and the service was excellent.
A minor problem we had in the dining room was attended to by David ,the owner, and was resolved to everyone,s satisfaction.
Without a doubt we will return at the very first opportunity.
We have stayed at the other hotel opposite in the village and there is no comparison. Read less

Been greeted by Sally in a very friendly way. The breakfast served by a very nice lady, sorry I did not get her name, thank you.
Dislikes:
Basin tap twisted to one side, only minor, but could do with tightening.
