"You get waht you pay for."
I had read some strange and negative comments on Trip Advisor prior to booking this hotel. I found the staff lovely, the beer and food excellent and whilst the room was dated with the most interesting dark chocolate brown bathroom suite, it was clean and all that was needed for my short stop. For once, and I have stopped in many places the bed was very comfortable and the bedding was of a good quality and pristine white. I will return when in the area again. Read less

It was a great place to relax after a very strenuous day.
I had five bars of mobile coverage on Vodafone from my room!!! Not that I would have been bothered either way.
Dislikes:
Not enough time to sample a cooked breakfast!!!!! I had to leave sharpish and certainly nothing to do with the hotel.

Comfortable bed, but needed my own pillow. Peaceful, nice owners, lovely location and beautiful garden at rear and flowers at front. Beautiful, characterful architecture of an old coaching Inn.
Dislikes:
Breakfast:Cartoned fruit juice, fruit salad floating in orange juice. Cereals full of sugar, even the muesli. Toast was of the pre-sliced Mother's Pride variety. No porridge. No fresh milk in rooms.
Response from Teesdale Hotel:
Refurbishment of the hotel is well under way. Your twin room has recieved a lot of attention as in very high order. As far as I know our breakfast far exceeds the standard of a budget hotel in our category. The fruit salad is cut fresh every day and in orange juice to prevent it turning brown. With all due respect; freshly squeezed juices, fresh bread cut to order and milk brought to the room are beyond the our pricing structure.

Well stocked cellar with good wine selection and well kept real ales. Fourteen rooms, all en suite, spotlessly clean, tastefully modernised, recently refurbished. Comfortable residents lounge, drying room for wet walking gear. Private parking at the rear.
