We planned a few walks and wanted a nice pub to end up in. The weather unfortunately was bad, snowing heavily on our walk at Low Force. The walkabout walk round Middleton in Teesdale was very informative and a welcome warm hotel was needed to thaw out. Read less

The mattress was worn out in the sense that you could feel the springs and I had to put a blanket under the sheet. Also couldn't turn shower heat down and nearly got burnt

The Teesdale Hotel is a family run, old 18th C Coaching Inn, a beautiful old building, elegantly modernised to retain its 'olde worlde' charm. Located in the quaint stone built village of Middleton in Teesdale, set in the stunning countryside of Upper Teesdale in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Serving really great food using the best seasonal produce the area has to offer, all cooked on the premises with imagination and passion. Cosy bar with log fire in the winter and french doors to patio in the summer. Well stocked cellar with good wine selection and well kept real ales. Fourteen rooms, all en suite, spotlessly clean, tastefully modernised, recently refurbished. Comfortable residents lounge, drying room for wet walking gear. Private parking at the rear.

England's largest waterfall, High Force, is only a few miles away, as are Bowes Museum, Eggleston Gardens, Raby Castle and other fine historic attractions. Middleton-in-Teesdale is right in the centre of Northern England, The Lake District, Beamish Museum, Hadrian's Wall, The Teesdale Way, The Pennine Way and the Historic cities of Durham, York and Newcastle are all easily accessible by car.
