We were told at about 9 o'clock st night they had no room for us despite taking our booking and payment earlier that day. However they eventually sorted it out. They left a young lad on charge who wasn't sure what to do about the situation. I cannot fault him, he was trying his very best and was lovely. Read less

"Owner lets it down ..."
... as she was not welcoming and without her my rating would have been higher. She was more interested in the regulars, not occasional guests. I had hoped to try a few Scottish gins from the 'Linton Gin Menu', three were listed, none was available (only another from Shetland at 60 proof) - shouldn't happen if you're promoting local/Scottish products. She was quite dismissive when asked about other gins. Also, after 6 years, she didn't know that the river across the road is the Tyne, not the Esk! Read less

The chef was very helpful in offering a gluten-free alternative for dessert. The young waitress was friendly, cheerful and helpful. They both deserve a 'good' to 'excellent' rating.
Dislikes:
The owner had been advised of my gluten intolerance and yet asked me "have you brought your own bread for breakfast"
The 'shower' in room 4 is a misnomer, it was a drizzle, very disappointing.
Response from The Linton Hotel:
On the evening you arrived I offered you a selection of over 7 different gins to try - you asked for my personal choice which I gave you. I checked back on you and your friend three times during dinner and at all times was friendly and polite. I spent over an hour chatting about the area with you over breakfast (sorry wrong river) I merely checked on your allergy requirements to ensure we had the correct products for you for breakfast something that we again discussed at length over breakfast

The Linton Hotel was originally called The Golden Lion Hotel (detailed in 1835 by a local minister) then changed its name to The Red Lion and again to The Bridgend (1980’s) and is now known as The Linton. No matter the name the welcome is always guaranteed to be warm and friendly.

Situated on the edge of the River Tyne within the beautiful historical village of East Linton, The Linton Hotel is ideal for a those wishing to enjoy the local area.

Our superb Bistro restaurant offers an excellent range of local produce and we are delighted to say that we have gained an AA Rosette for our food and service. In addition to a few local association awards.

We take a great deal of care to ensure that your visit, no matter how short, is one to be enjoyed and remembered for some time to come.

The biggest compliment anyone can pay us is to be confident in recommending The Linton to friends, family and colleagues and to, of course, come back to visit again.
