We ate in the restaurant, the food was good, reasonably priced and arrived in ten minutes. The waitress was very attentive, no waiting or trying to catch the eye of the waitress here!
Dislikes:
Breakfast was from eight o'clock, unfortunately we needed to have breakfast about seven thirty, so that we could arrive at East Fortune Race Circuit for eight o' clock, this was not possible.

I expect a better standard of room for the high price per night. We were in tom 17 at the back and it was very cold. The shower was little better than a trickle. The time span for breakfast was 8 till 9, on holiday we expect to be able to have the option at least till 10.30. Overall a poor hotel. Read less

"Fawlty Towers"
If you are feeling nostalgic for the 1970s - the era of Fawlty Towers - you will love your stay at the Tweeddale. If, on the other hand, you think nintey pounds is a rather steep price for a double room in a remotely located hotel whose staff is unhelpful and whose rooms (and especially bathrooms) are in severe need of a re-decoration, you should look elsewhere. The best thing that can be said for the hotel is that it was located close-ish to where we needed to be.
Dislikes:
Worn appearance of rooms, and unintentionally retro bathrooms; night-time noise in room from downstairs pub; staff promised to book taxi for us on check-out but didn't, resulting in a one-hour delay;

A warm welcome awaits you from the new owners John and Lynn at The Tweeddale Arms Hotel in Gifford. Having taken over in November they are looking forward to welcoming all existing and future customers. We are also looking forward to planning staged re-furbishment throughout.

Built circa 1685 and still traditionally Black & White, The Tweeddale Arms Hotel looks out through lime trees to the village Green and the River. Gifford is a sweetly-lying, quaint village at the foot of the Lammremuir Hills with picturesque walks and cylce paths nearby. Gifford is located only 30 minutes drive away from Edinburgh and is within easy reach of 17 of Scotland’s finest golf courses including Muirfield.

Boasting a cosy snug public bar with a log burning stove and real Ales on tap, pool room off, the hotel and the locals are always welcoming to new faces. Doggies are welcome in the bar - on leads please! and the bar has been known to host impromptu music sessions from local singers and gives you everything you could want from a village pub. We also serve food in the bar if preferred.

There is also a family lounge bar/restaurant, which welcomes people of all ages throughout the day for teas & coffees, drinks and bar meals. Further dining rooms, one with it's own open fireplace, and further dining off, are available for private dining. The hotel also has a lovely enclosed beer garden and a function suite with access to the garden making it perfect for weddings or that extra special event.

The hotel is ideally positioned in the centre of Gifford near the village hall and opposite the beautiful village park, is only four miles away from Haddington and offers free Wi-Fi, free parking. There are two golf courses minutes from the hotel.

Gifford Golf Course - 9 hole course
Castle Park Golf Course - 18 hole course
