I just stepped off the bus and a few minutes later collected my keys from friendly barmaid at The Victoria. Dumped my bag in the apartment and shot off for an afternoon's sight-seeing. Lots of things to see and do in East Lothian! Swim in the sea, visit historic places, natural wonders (geology, rare plants, birds) boat trips... Cycle tracks and quiet country roads ideal for walkers. At night, lots of cheap places to eat in Haddington. Did not investigate dearer options, which also exist. Read less
Likes:
Town centre location, very convenient for excellent bus service to Edinburgh, seaside and country villages. In the apartment, comfortable bed, kettle provided, freeview TV, powerful shower.
Dislikes:
Now the weather is getting colder I would have liked to have the radiator on in the evening. Bed was cosy.

"Disappointing overnight stay and poor value for money"
We were able to check in early, even although the room hadn't been made up, which was no problem and the receptionist apologised profusely. The room was large, as was the bathroom. The bedroom in particular is tired and the soft furnishings are particularly ill-fitting or non-existent.
None of the bedside or table lamps worked. The bathroom cleaning lacked attention: a previous guest's used sanitary towel is revolting. The whole place needs a good clean, especially the carpets. Read less

Nothing. If we hadn't had a drink at our friends' party, we would have driven home rather than stay, especially when fellow party goers were paying considerably less for their room!
Dislikes:
We expected a 3 star experience, based on the Scottish Tourist Board plaque outside the door. On contacting Visit Scotland, we've discovered that the Inn withdrew from their star scheme in Nov 2017.

"What a waste of money."
Arrived to discover there would be no food of any kind although the website still shows a restaurant. The room was ok but there was what looked like food under the bed. There was only teabags and sugar in the room and no spare loo roll. Having previously stayed there I assumed it would be as good as last time. The website needs taking down urgently as it is not relevant any more. Read less

"great base for exploring East Lothian"
I enjoyed my second visit even more than the first one. Haddington is an ideal base for tourists dependent on public transport. I was able to travel all over county and enjoy many attractions.
The town itself is pretty, with choice of eating places & surprisingly good shops. Read less
Likes:
Central location very convenient. Bright, airy room with view of picturesque market town.
Dislikes:
IF there had been twin beds instead of a double, I might persuade a woman friend to join me for next short break.

Central location and low cost.
Dislikes:
Wot no teabags? No black coffee either. Just a peculiar mix of instant coffee + milk powder with sugar sachets. Teabags are cheap enough, you could supply a few.
