Likes:
Rye is an interesting town, if very touristy
Dislikes:
1. the TV seemed not to respond to the controller
2. the lavatory system was inadequate - it couldn't flush away turds, hence quite a smell
3. no marmelade among the choices at breakfast.

"Low standard at a nice location"
We stayed 1 night in the River Haven Hotel in Rye on our way back to Dover next morning. We know Rye and wanted to spend there a nice last evening of our holidays. The disabled room we had a bath which was difficult to enter and not a shower, which would have been much easier to walk in, we are wondering why? Read less
Likes:
There was a Parking Place at the Hotel and the Hotel is directly at the River and you can take a nice walk along the river to go into the town Rye.
Dislikes:
We had a Menu-Card in our room to look at, but meals served were totally different. We ordered a bottle of wine, but the bottle disappeared behind the bar. So we had to pay twice as much. Poor Service

"Extrondiarely bad level of service and quality"
A general feeling of hostility upon arrival as if we'd inconvenienced management meant we were quick to pick up on the large number of faults in the quality and cleanliness of the room and hotel. The room was dark, damp and in disrepair. The shower was tiny as someone who is 5ft 6, couldn't even fit under it. The amenities in the room were subpar- things like the hairdryer didn't work and no iron available in the room. You'd expect to pay half the cost you did Read less

Dirty and crap room... the blind was broken and mouldy
The shower was tiny and no normal size person could fit and wash adequately under it.

The centre of the medieval town is a couple of minutes walk with it's variety of shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants together with such features as the Landgate Tower built in 1325 as a defence against the French. Virtually the whole of the citadel area is a conservation area and includes churches, the Town Hall and a myriad of buildings of historical interest.
