"Very enjoyable, relaxing break in a lovely place."
We booked for 2 nights and had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at The Ferguson Fawsitt Arms. The room was lovely and the customer service was excellent. We were made to feel very welcome, especially by Paul, who also gave us advice on places to visit in nearby Beverley. The breakfast was one of the best that we have ever had, with a good choice of options. We also had an evening meal on Saturday and this was also excellent. Read less

The room was a good size and in a quiet situation away from the road. Facilities and cleanliness were of a high standard. All the staff that we met were very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent.

We happened to be in a room next to a room with a child. The child woke up screaming in the early hours of the morning. The parents in dealing with the child made excessive noise for time of night

The Saturday meal was mediocre. Dry tough roasts, mediocre veg. Heating not on in the rooms on arrival and they were freezing. Quickly rectified by helpful staff. Matresses a bit mean!

Set in the picturesque village of Walkington we are just three miles from Beverley with its wonderful Minster traditional Market Square and shops. With Beverley racecourse just over 1 mile away, York and the East Coast towns of Hornsea, Bridlington and Scarborough nearby, there is plenty to see and do in the area.

The Ferguson Fawsitt was named after two important local families. The original license at the Ferguson Fawsitt was granted in 1866 when J.D. Ferguson brother of the rector, married wealthy heiress Miss. Eliza Fawsitt. The original name of the pub was 'The Bay Horse' and the area now known as the 'Cocktail Bar' was originally the village blacksmith's shop which was in use until 1950. The Carvery area was the area the blacksmiths used to repair carraige wheels and shoe the horses.

The Ferguson Fawsitt Arms has seen many changes over the years but still retains many features from bygone days.
The latest addition is our 10 bedroomed accommodation Lodge.
The Lodge is situated away from the main building giving peace and quiet in a contempory but cosy atmosphere.
