"Overnight stop off in Feering"
Overnight for wedding at Houchins. Staff kindly noted we needed to get changed for wedding and had room ready for noon. We were out until midnight so had good breakfast before leaving. The full english is huge. The restaurant and bar area are very welcoming with good menu and peaceful enough for those with a hangover or wanting to catch up with friends - no loud music- so we would definitely return. Staff friendly & polite. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Bed was small double but comfortable. Plenty of PG Tips teabags and milk which was appreciated - more biscuits would be a plus!
Dislikes:
Room 2 is on busy road. The streetlamps are on all night and the blinds do not quite cover the windows. Curtains would be a plus.

"Disturbing Road Noise"
We stayed in room 2 and were very disappointed. The room has a high ceiling but small floor space and a cramped en-suite. The room has no double glazing and is at the junction of two main roads. The constant road noise of cars and lorries was horrendous and meant we had an awful night’s sleep. There was also an issue with a smell of drains in the lobby and en-suite. Staff were friendly and breakfast was very good. Read less

Breakfast was good.
Dislikes:
Room is at the junction of two busy roads resulting In disturbing road noise and made worse by lack of double glazing or an attempt at some noise insulation. Drains need investigating.

Opened September 2013 after an extensive refurbishment transforming a former 16th century coaching inn into an open and more inviting space, with stylish and contemporary finishes creating a homely feel combined with a welcoming atmosphere.

Feering is a lovely rural village with a small, local, friendly village feel, yet a strategic location, enabling easy travel from Colchester, Chelmsford and London. Its ancient centre, located around All Saints Church, is listed in the doomsday book although the village has grown considerably since medieval days and now stretches from the river Blackwater at the border with Kelvedon in the south, to the A120 in the north.

If you are thinking of having an extended stay in the area then do look for our very special rates for a 2 Night Weekend stay.

Please note - we are unable to accept online reservations for the same day after 6pm. We may still have rooms available, but to check availability please contact us directly on 01376 571783.

We look forward to welcoming you to The Blue Anchor.
