Food was excellent
rooms were clean and comfortable.
Dislikes:
Stay was lovely except for a few things:
1. pane of glass missing from bed room window which we didn't realise until the morning but was cold all night.
2. quite loud staying above the pub

We stayed 2 nights in an adequate room, they've tried for "up market" but the finish lets it down. There are no staff after 11pm, so if there's a problem - you're on your own. There's a security door to get in and out of the building, which was open at 1am when we got in - so not very secure! Breakfast on morning 1 was generous, on morning 2 the exact same breakfast was halved - 1 mushroom cut in half, half a tomato, half a round of black pudding, half a sausage! Adequate but inconsistent Read less
Likes:
Location is peaceful, apart from the barking labrador that was left out by neighbour across the track from the Lodge until they got in at 12pm, when the dog fell silent, poor dog must have been frozen
Dislikes:
It's a bit petty, but the shelf glued to the side of the bathroom sink was badly positioned so that every time you sat on the loo it jabbed you in the shoulder.

In 1213, after the Norman Conquest, the wooded land we now know as Minchinhampton Common was confiscated and given to l`Abbaye aux Dames in Caen. Some 800 years later Christophe and his business partner Nick continue to add to this fascinating Anglo/French story.

The Old Lodge itself dates back some 400 years and is reportedly a former hunting lodge to Henry VIII. The most recent project and the boys only hotel to date.

The Lodge has magnificent views and an envied position at the centre not only of the common with its free ranging cattle but of Minchinhampton Golf Course.

The stunning restaurant has floor to ceiling windows that look directly onto the common and the professional yet relaxed service is delivered by Daniel Wood and his team.

Recently refurbished, all rooms have contemporary decoration with stylish furnishings and luxury linen and bedding. Each room comes equipped with wireless broadband, DVD, and digital LCD TV as standard. All bathrooms feature either bath and/or power shower.

The Old Lodge makes an instant impression. Individually designed rooms, large restaurant, local ales, and roaring log fires in winter guarantee to make your stay a memorable one.
