"A room with a view"
We needed overnight accommodation to attend a family event so didn't spend a great deal of time in our room. We rather regretted this as the room was lovely and had a glorious view across the common. The atmosphere in The Old Lodge was warm and welcoming and we will certainly be recommending it to friends. Read less
Likes:
Good ambience in the room, furniture delightfully old and quirky, attention paid to details e.g. really good quality towels and plenty of coffee and milk, delicious breakfast.
Dislikes:
Difficult to get in late at night as lighting was fairly minimal and we couldn't see the key code pad in the dark.

"Okay, not worth the money"
Room was okay, bed was massively uncomfortable. The shower temperature drastically changed on its own and the lights flickered on and off in both bedroom and bathroom. The hotel is above a pub which wasn't the loud part - it was the doors of the other hotel rooms. They had no closing mechanism so I was awoken at stupid hours by people's door and movement. Needs addressing really! Breakfast was okay - only one cup of coffee with no offer of a second/third and breakfast was very salty! Read less

In 1213, after the Norman Conquest, the wooded land we now know as Minchinhampton Common was confiscated and given to l`Abbaye aux Dames in Caen. Some 800 years later Christophe and his business partner Nick continue to add to this fascinating Anglo/French story.

The Old Lodge itself dates back some 400 years and is reportedly a former hunting lodge to Henry VIII. The most recent project and the boys only hotel to date.

The Lodge has magnificent views and an envied position at the centre not only of the common with its free ranging cattle but of Minchinhampton Golf Course.

The stunning restaurant has floor to ceiling windows that look directly onto the common and the professional yet relaxed service is delivered by Daniel Wood and his team.

Recently refurbished, all rooms have contemporary decoration with stylish furnishings and luxury linen and bedding. Each room comes equipped with wireless broadband and digital LCD TV as standard. All bathrooms feature either bath and/or power shower.

The Old Lodge makes an instant impression. Individually designed rooms, large restaurant, local ales, and roaring log fires in winter guarantee to make your stay a memorable one.
