Welcoming ambience
Dislikes:
The bedroom had been modernised. The window curtain, although elegant, completely failed to cut out the morning light. The room needs to have a light-stop blind fitted.

"Unhappy with overall experience"
checked in on Friday Into room 6 which looked nothing like what the website promised. We had views of the rooftop with boilers...etc and the floor was at an angle meaning the bed & mattress (very uncomfortable) remained at angle. The curtains were non existent as so sheer & when we woke up Saturday, there was a water cut. Our friend joined to check in the next day but was overbooked. He was offered an extra bed in our room which turned out to be an aerobed. Water was still cutting off Sat.night Read less

In 1213, after the Norman Conquest, the wooded land we now know as Minchinhampton Common was confiscated and given to l`Abbaye aux Dames in Caen. Some 800 years later Christophe and his business partner Nick continue to add to this fascinating Anglo/French story.

The Old Lodge itself dates back some 400 years and is reportedly a former hunting lodge to Henry VIII. The most recent project and the boys only hotel to date.

The Lodge has magnificent views and an envied position at the centre not only of the common with its free ranging cattle but of Minchinhampton Golf Course.

The stunning restaurant has floor to ceiling windows that look directly onto the common and the professional yet relaxed service is delivered by Daniel Wood and his team.

Recently refurbished, all rooms have contemporary decoration with stylish furnishings and luxury linen and bedding. Each room comes equipped with wireless broadband, DVD, and digital LCD TV as standard. All bathrooms feature either bath and/or power shower.

The Old Lodge makes an instant impression. Individually designed rooms, large restaurant, local ales, and roaring log fires in winter guarantee to make your stay a memorable one.
