My stay was business related so an early-ish start that preceeded breakfast unfortunately. Also the room I stayed in was above the kitchen so the noise of the extractor fans was a little annoying but did cease when the establishment closed. All in all very nice accommodation with excellent staff. Read less

"Overnight stay to attend friends wedding."
I was attending a wedding in the village and looked for somewhere to stay nearby so that I could walk to the venue. I spend the next morning exploring the village which was lovely. The Waggon is obviously "the place to be seen" in Upper Mill and was full of attractive people having a good time. All the staff were young and smart. Not a place I would normally frequent had it not been for the wedding but I enjoyed myself. Read less
Likes:
My room, the whole place in fact, had clearly been renovated recently. Therefore the room décor and facilities were fresh and modern. The white cotton bedding was a real treat.
Dislikes:
The breakfast was much too expensive for me - a shame when I was having a treat staying over. However I wouldn't normally stay somewhere quite so expensive but it was extremely handy for my needs.

"Please double glaze your windows"
The waggon inn is lovely the rooms are lovely, listening to the pub downstairs until midnight was awful. Then just as you think you can finally get some sleep as the pub has closed everyone crosses the street to muse and the party continues!!! I would recommend the waggon to everyone ONCE you double glaze the windows and sound proof the floor!!
Thank god for ear plugs!! Read less

A delightful 19th Century coaching inn with a comfortable lounge, bar and dining area. The inn has recently undergone a huge refurbishment to bring the building back to life. Local produce and a lovely setting are the hallmarks of The Waggon Inn; with all our food sourced locally.

The Waggon Inn was established in 1882 by Joseph Bradbury and has a long tradition of providing hospitality and accommodation to local residents and visitors to Uppermill. In “Saddleworth Pubs and their licencees 1674-1998”, Rob Magee notes that about 1882 Joseph Bradbury a Stone Merchant became beer retailer at the Waggon Inn, High Street, Uppermill. By 1887 Joseph’s widow Mary was licensee and owner. When Mary died in 1900 her son Frank took over as licensee and stayed on until 1925, when the family sold the Waggon to Robinson’s Brewery, Stockport.

There are four rooms available. All bedrooms are newly renovated to a very high standard. Our twin room has a walk in wet room and our doubles a power shower and bath All.bedrooms are equipped with large flat screen TV's, hair dryer, Dolce Gusto coffee machine with tea and coffee making facilities.
