3 nights as part of walking the Shipwrights Trail. The Old The Old Drum is a comfy little place convenient to train station. There are only 2 rooms above the pub, so it feels like home. But the pub has a great reputation in town, so it's busy and has a pleasant buzz. We felt immediately comfortable and we'll cared for. Petersfield is small
enough to get to know, large enough to be interesting, offers multiple restaurants and pubs, book stores, and other conveniences. Read less

The hosts, Simon and Suzi, are wonderful and accommodating, as is the entire staff. Breakfast is delicious, dinners (if you choose to eat there) are creative and high quality. Would certainly return
Dislikes:
Bathroom is a bit small, but fixtures and finishes are high quality, as are the large, plush towels. It will not spoil your stay.
Response from The Old Drum:
Thank you Dennis, it was a pleasure to have the both of you to stay.

Big party of ladies for dinner was quite noisy. Room was hot (hot weather) but rather noisy with windows open. Not fault of Old Drum but Friday night and town location meant it was rather noisy. Read less

Staff were friendly and relaxed.
Clean and well equipped room, nice food.
Dislikes:
Whilst location was convenient, the drawback was noise on a Friday night. Some drunken shouting and swearing and clambering up nearby construction works was a bit unsettling.

Two old school friends and their wives have transformed the fortunes of Petersfield's oldest pub. Simon Hawkins and Robin Canty first met at school at the tender age of 11, now almost 40 years later they have come together again to rescue The Old Drum, a 16th Century Inn in the heart of Petersfield. With their wives, Suzi and Be, they have uncovered and restored a previously unloved and unfrequented building, and turned it into a thriving, bustling pub/restaurant with rooms.

Since opening at the beginning of July 2012, the pub has gone from strength to strength. Where once H. G. Wells sat and wrote, Petersfield citizens are now enjoying local real ales and great seasonal food prepared by Simon Hartnett, the Head Chef. Simon has recently been awarded an AA rosette for his stunning food, with the promise of more to come.

Our rooms have achieved 4 AA stars with a gold award for quality. Homemade biscuits, a selection of teas and coffees and a complementary dram of whisky are there to welcome you. Luxurious mattresses, fluffy duvets and Egyptian cotton sheets guarantee an excellent night's sleep.

Downstairs there are three open fires, leather sofas, a stunning garden for when the sun shines and happy, smiling staff. Digby, the pub Jack Russell, will also make sure you are properly welcomed.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
