Returning yet again to The Star to attend a local biennial event, for our 6th visit since 2002, we were not disappointed, a pleasant room in the adjoining accomodation block, a comfortable bar and dining area, and superb food. The traditional full English breakfast is of the highest quality, including the tastiest sausages,obviously sourced from a local artizan butcher, that we have ever encountered. Read less

The food here is excellent and very reasonably priced,and well presented which made for a very pleasant experience, the supper menu includes a good choice of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes.

The food was exceptional both evening meal and breakfasts, the extra touches such as complimentary olives and bread with the evening meal and croissants before breakfast were a welcome treat!

The bed was comfy and we overlooked the village cricket green and endless fields, so it lovely and quiet.

Lovely setting (overlooking a beautiful cricket field)in a very quiet rural area. A very inventive menu for a country pub, with none of the customary "gastro pub" pretentiousness.
Dislikes:
The location may be "too" remore for some, as getting anywhere requires negotiating a maze of country lanes. Not the hotel's fault!

The friendliness and discrete efficiency of staff and the high quality of cuisine provided. The ambience of a country pub is preferable, for us, to a smart and impersonal hotel.
Dislikes:
The wine list is somewhat short on quality and variety.

Owners really care about the quality of service and food eg newspapers and umbrellas provided, small tapas and jug of water(evening) and wonderful croissants (breakfast). Read less

Meals were simply superb. Evening meal was well cooked, substantial & up to "master chef" standards.
Breakfast enormous & best quality ingredients.
