Aultbea

Achnasheen,

Highland,

IV22 2HX,  United Kingdom
Aultbea hotel has been welcoming guests for over a century – other than the years when it was requisitioned during the war! As time has gone by the hotel has evolved to offer eight peaceful ensuite rooms; two restaurant spaces and a lively bar. What has remained the same are the stunning views, the loch lapping at the bottom of the garden and the friendly highland hospitality. Located just north of Inverewe gardens en route to Ullapool this unique location makes the hotel the perfect spot.

"A weekend get-away that hit the spot."
We arrived and parked our car next to the conservatory under renovation and I'm glad to say that the look of horror on my wife's face was swiftly replaced with a smug smile as we entered the main door to reception. An instant feeling of being in a place that is being tastefully revived envelopes you as you browse the rooms and then make your way to your own allotted bedroom. Our room had a lovely sea view and was both very comfortable and immaculate. Good things are happening at the Aultbea. Read less

We were fortunate to fall on the special Valentines menu. Really well thought out menu options and a great wine selection made for a memorable evening meal, lovingly prepared and thoroughly enjoyed.

Aultbea Hotel was built in 1850 as a hunting lodge and has, over the years, evolved into a very comfortable eight bedroomed hotel. All bedrooms are ensuite and have recently been refurbished to a very high standard. Our deluxe rooms overlook the loch and have jacuzzi baths in the ensuite bathrooms. Our standard rooms have views overlooking the village of Aultbea and the surrounding countryside.

Situated at the water's edge, the hotel's seafood restaurant and garden are the perfect locations to enjoy spectacular views of the loch with its array of birds, sea-life and sometimes an otter or two whilst enjoying a meal prepared by our chef and his team. We specialise in local seafood (when in season) freshly caught from the loch. Our salmon is locally smoked at Isle of Ewe Smokehouse and our black puddings come from award winning Ritchies' of Aultbea. The Langoustine are the freshest you can get!

Relax in our cosy guest lounge or grab a comfy seat by the log burning stove in our great little pub.

Aultbea Hotel is ideally situated for exploring the north west highlands with Inverewe Gardens nearby, the Benn Eighe Nature Reserve, the Torridon mountains, Ullapool and the Ise of Skye easily accessible for day trips. The village of Aultbea and Loch Ewe played an important part during World War II as the Arctic Convoy ships rendezvous point before sailing to Russia. It is hoped a museum commemorating the convoys will soon be built.
Environmental Statement
We aim to recycle as much as possible. We encourage guests staying for more than one night to use their bathroom towels more than once and to save energy by switching off electrical appliances and lights when not in their room. We use local produce to limit our carbon footprint .
