The Cross at Kingussie is an award winning restaurant with rooms located in the lovely Highland village of Kingussie in the stunning Cairngorm National Park, surrounded by mountains, rivers and lochs. Situated in four acres of riverside grounds, the Gynack Burn flows through the garden to join the River Spey in the village. We have an abundance of native trees, flowers and wildlife including roe deer and red squirrels. The Cross combines quality with simplicity and good food with a warm welcome. Built as a water powered tweed mill in the late 1800s, The Cross maintains the character and some of the original features of the mill. Recommended in The Times Travel 22 November 2014 as one of '30 great British winter weekend destinations' and described in Press & Journal June 2015 as "a delightful Highland gem". AA Inspectors'Choice Restaurant with Rooms 2016. AA Breakfast Award 2016. A place to relax & recharge the spirit & enjoy some of the freshest, finest cuisine.

We are open for lunch (3 courses with choices £25), afternoon tea ( sandwiches and cakes £17 ) and dinner. Advance booking is advised. In the evening we serve dinner from 7 until 8.30 p.m. and offer two menus - either a 3 course menu with choices at £55 or a tasting menu at £60 with optional wine matching. A.A. Two Red Rosettes. Recommended in The Good Food Guide and Michelin Guide & Good Hotel Guide in 2016. The Scotsman Restaurant Review for lunch on 27 July 2013 by Gaby Soutar said "what a place this is - a little sliver of heaven".

Champagne is served on the terrace in the summer – and drams in a cosy lounge in winter. The wine list is extensive. Dinners are served by an open fire in the stone walled and wood beamed restaurant.

There are two comfortable lounges in which to relax and unwind – with many games and books – lots of local information and suggestions for walks and excursions. There are eight comfortable bedrooms, all with large beds and well equipped en-suite bathrooms.
Environmental Statement
As a family-run restaurant with rooms in a fantastic natural environment, we care about the world we will pass on to our children. We reuse and recycle a wide variety of items including paper, corks, card, plastics, printer cartridges, and even bread (for local ducks!). We use as many recycled materials as we can.We are working hard to cut down energy and water usage. Low energy lighting is being installed in as many fittings as possible and bedroom televisions are switched off when rooms are serviced. In the restaurant we make full use of local seasonal produce and where we can we buy produce that has been grown or reared by organic methods. Some of the grounds at The Cross are left to grow into wild areas to encourage local wildlife such as roe deer, squirrels, hedgehogs, frogs, butterflies, and a large range of bird species.
