Watch House Lane

Cowes,

Isle of Wight,

PO31 7QH,  England
This is the first pub you come to on the way up from the seafront. A fabulous pub, the Union is extremely popular all year round. In the summer months the atmosphere is buzzing with sailing and boating crews, and in the winter the fires get lit and everything becomes more cosy and intimate. The menu offers a wide selection of dishes and many of them are home-cooked - you should try the local fish dishes, they are very tasty. The beer is top notch and live bands play every Thursday.

The room was much nicer than expected considering it was described as a small double. The inn is a nice mixture of smart accommondation and traditional pub.

"friendly, relaxing overall"
2 nights stay for wedding at Osborne House, first visit to Cowes, liked it and thought Union would be convenient for Osborne house but swing bridge was not working so more difficult transport etc. Union's late night opening was noisy but didn't spoil our stay, in fact we joined in on the Saturday. Our room was light and nicely decorated - but couldn't work out how to open the windows Read less

Dislikes:
windows difficult to open / if we had opened them the smoke from customers in street would have entered our room. Bathroom - no storage/shelves and wc had a mascerator thing that was a bit loud

The Union Inn is the first pub you come to on your way into town from Cowes seafront, it is just a short walk from the Red Funnel Hi-Speed passenger terminal in West Cowes. Ideally located in Cowes Old Town it is close to all the Yacht Clubs and in easy walking distance of the Marina.

The Union Inn offers 6 newly refurbished, individually themed, en-suite letting rooms all designed and furnished in a boutique style. A haven for yachting enthusiasts, business people and holiday makers and an ideal all-year-round base from which to explore the Isle of Wight.

Now re-open after a month long refurbishment the owner and staff are ready to welcome you to the cosy fireside inn, a peaceful retreat particularly during the seasonal hustle and bustle of Cowes’ many yachting regattas.

Cowes has been seen as a home for international yacht racing since the founding of the Royal Yacht Squadron in 1815. Cowes comes alive each June for Round The Island Race. The town famously gives its name to the world's oldest regular regatta, Cowes Week, which occurs annually in the first week of August. Later on in the summer, powerboat races are held.
