"A great stay in a great location ideally suited for our purpose"
A very warm and friendly welcome from a team of young staff that were consistently attentive and cheery. I miss this traditional environment north of the boarder and it was a great to have a couple of nights in a true English Pub. We enjoyed the Ale, general atmosphere and the meals that we had, a special Thank You to the manager who agreed to prepare and serve an excellent breakfast at 07.30 and his team at the bar Read less

The Duke William is set in rural Kent with a closeness to the City of Canterbury and its Cathedral, the town of Sandwich, all short drives. The Inn has lovely walks surrounding it, as long or as short as you wish.

Once the major port in England but now two miles from the sea, Sandwich is arguably one of the best preserved medieval towns in the UK. Within the old town walls the many period houses, with their characteristic "Kent peg" roofs, are laid out in a street plan which has changed little since the creation of the Domesday book in 1086. Sandwich is on the long distance paths of The Saxon Shoreway and The Stour Valley walk. There is also an extensive network of footpaths and bridleways which can be used to create a number of circular walks through the local countryside or around the town itself.

Nearby is Canterbury, including Herne Bay and Whitstable coastal resorts, with their beautiful beach fronts, and the surrounding Countryside. Experience Canterbury's history and heritage, see our stunning architecture and world famous buildings. Enjoy a day out in Canterbury and visit the magnificent Canterbury Cathedral, have a relaxing short break or longer fun filled family holiday on at the seaside in Herne Bay or Whitstable. Canterbury has the perfect blend of city, coast and countryside, ensuring that however varied your interests are you will be spoilt for choice.

The food is all cooked on the premises and the produce is all locally sourced, home made puddings are delicious, good wholesome food in a very friendly family run Inn. We have a friendly bar serving cask ales and drinks in pleasant surroundings
