"Pre- Ferry Stopover"
My partner and I stayed at the hotel the night before crossing on the ferry; I had already contacted the hotel to say that we would arrive very late in the evening but due to traffic we arrived long after the pub had closed; I phoned ahead to say we were on our way & the very nice hostess met us at the door, carried our luggage up to our room & made us feel very welcome. The room was lovely, clean, nice shower & couldn't be faulted. Read less

We are an independent family-owned hotel in Sandgate, near Folkestone, in Kent. Mother and daughter team, Sandra and Georgia, fell in love with the Royal Norfolk Hotel back in 2009 and. together with our family and friends we have strived to transform, evolve and upgrade the property, which overlooks Henry VIII’s 15th century Castle, tucked away in Hythe Bay, a hidden oasis by the sea in the Garden of England. Situated a stone’s throw from the beach, the Royal Norfolk Hotel offers comfortable and well appointed accommodation with private off-road parking. Our en-suite rooms are equipped with a beverage tray, a television, radio and hairdryer.
At the heart of the hotel is Gee’s Bar, a warm, friendly, family spot offering fresh, quality home cooked food. Food is served until 8pm Monday to Saturday and until 6pm on Sundays, served in the bar or in our cosy dining room. As well as a fine assortment of premium draught lagers, wines and sprits, Gee's bar hosts an eclectic mix of popular live music on most weekends and is open until 1am on Fridays and midnight on Saturdays. Our Sun Terrace has a retractable roof so you may enjoy the glorious coastal sunshine or shelter from the wind and rain.
Surrounded by the Cinque Ports, which are steeped in naval history, the area extends along 2kms of the Kent coastline with Folkestone and Hythe on either side. The beach in front of the hotel is also highly regarded for its competition angling.
The Hotel is a great stop over for those travelling to and from Europe, with short journeys to both the Eurotunnel Terminal and The Port of Dover opening up your gateway to Europe, with Dover, the busiest port in Britain, offering a wide range of cross channel ferries. In addition, the high speed rail link takes you straight into the heart of London, all of which are within easy reach of the Royal Norfolk Hotel.
