"weekend stay"
We stayed at the hotel for a family occasion nearby. we had a family room and my grand mother had a single room.
The hotel is situated in the centre of town so has noise and a civic hall next door which has a function room. On the Saturday night we found it very noisy due to the music from the bar downstairs, the music from the hall across the road and the people chatting and shouting as they visited the bar. Sunday night however was very peaceful and calm. Read less

The hotel rooms were Very clean and our family room was spacious. It is a good location with free parking. The staff were very friendly. Breakfast was good.
Dislikes:
The rooms need a little more general maintenence. We had loose tiles on the bathroom floor and the bath moves as you stand in it for a shower. water power weak in shower. light bulb missing in light

Rooms were cold no central heating ! Ensuite bathroom door wouldn't close.some of the staff were not friendly or polite.
Response from The Grant Arms Hotel:
I would like to explain the facts as it seems you are not aware, The wedding was a budget last minute affair which we said we would assist the couple with as their original venue had let them down. They only wanted 1 staff as this was in their budget, They asked for the bar from 3pm and yet you arrived at 2.20pm. If you had informed us of the issue with the bathroom door we could have moved your room immediately. I have now fixed the door runner. Every room has heaters.

The Hotel Wing provides 14 beautifully appointed en-suite bedrooms with, colour television with satellite channels, direct dial telephones, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, trouser press, iron and ironing board available on request.

Originally named "Top o'th Brow" it became "Grant Lodge" when the famous industrialist Grant Brothers adopted it as their family home.
