"A very relaxing place to stay"
This magnificent lodge to Samlesbury Hall has been beautifully restored to make it the perfect place to stay. The quality of the fixtures and fittings (especially the radiators) shows the care that has gone into the project to make the lodge super comfortable. Two suggestions. 1. Some outdoor furniture would be nice to enjoy a glass of wine, and 2. I wonder if the second sitting room (that seems a bit wasted at present) could be converted into a kitchen/dining room? Read less

Almost everything
Dislikes:
It got quite hot. Not sure the radiators need to be pumping out all the time.

Overnight stay, including breakfast. Really enjoyable despite the rain, which we were managed to avoid a lot of the time. Excellent lunch, the steak and ale pies were spot on with the veg and potatoes (and chips stolen from my wife's plate!). Read less
Likes:
The venue, (Hall and Lodge) grounds, food, and a few little things from the gift shop.
Dislikes:
Very minor points, but a table in the bathroom would be good for resting glasses of wine on!

"Wonderful experience"
On a trip through northern England, tracing family genealogy, brought us to Samlesbury Hall. The staff was friendly, receptive and helpful. The lodge was much bigger, more comfortable and had nicer amenities than we expected. We toured the manor house and had lunch and breakfast in the restaurant, as well as our overnight stay. Read less

The lodge and the tour more than met our expectations. As one of our first introductions to the place the tour was a funny, wonderful, educational experience.
Dislikes:
Not a thing, disappointed we didn't stay more than one night!
