"Lovely lodge, slightly noisy location"
I needed an overnight stay to break up my journey from Scotland to oxford with my two young children. This lodge was available with just two nights notice and was perfect for having the children sleep in a different room to me whilst still having access to a lounge area and tv. Read less
Likes:
All the space that it provided and roll top bath.
Dislikes:
The lodge is right on the main road, so the room with a single bed was quite difficult to sleep in. I luckily had earplugs with me. No child’s high chair despite advertising as such.

"A very relaxing place to stay"
This magnificent lodge to Samlesbury Hall has been beautifully restored to make it the perfect place to stay. The quality of the fixtures and fittings (especially the radiators) shows the care that has gone into the project to make the lodge super comfortable. Two suggestions. 1. Some outdoor furniture would be nice to enjoy a glass of wine, and 2. I wonder if the second sitting room (that seems a bit wasted at present) could be converted into a kitchen/dining room? Read less

It got quite hot. Not sure the radiators need to be pumping out all the time.

Overnight stay, including breakfast. Really enjoyable despite the rain, which we were managed to avoid a lot of the time. Excellent lunch, the steak and ale pies were spot on with the veg and potatoes (and chips stolen from my wife's plate!). Read less

The venue, (Hall and Lodge) grounds, food, and a few little things from the gift shop.
Dislikes:
Very minor points, but a table in the bathroom would be good for resting glasses of wine on!

"Wonderful experience"
On a trip through northern England, tracing family genealogy, brought us to Samlesbury Hall. The staff was friendly, receptive and helpful. The lodge was much bigger, more comfortable and had nicer amenities than we expected. We toured the manor house and had lunch and breakfast in the restaurant, as well as our overnight stay. Read less

The lodge and the tour more than met our expectations. As one of our first introductions to the place the tour was a funny, wonderful, educational experience.
Dislikes:
Not a thing, disappointed we didn't stay more than one night!

Lovely walk in local area. Cosy cottage feel. Nice bath together. Great breakfast.
Dislikes:
The lodge has a large shower which should be suitable for a couple to use together however the water comes out so weak that is barely powerful enough for 1 person. Shame....needs sorting!
