"'Proper Job' as we say in Cornwall"
I needed somewhere to say in Boston for a couple of nights. I didn't want posh and I didn't want tacky. The King Arms was ideal - friendly and welcoming with a good atmosphere. It's about 12 mins very pleasant walk from the bus/railway station. If driving directly opposite the working windmill on the Horncastle Road. Room was not large but very comfortable and well equipped. Free Wi-fi a great advantage. Read less

Boston's history is a rich one, littered with notable characters and events. In the middle ages the town grew to become an important port for the Hanseatic traders of northern Europe and for a period in the 13th Century Boston was the leading port in England. In 1545 the town was granted its charter and became a Borough. By the 17th Century Boston had become a centre of religious non-conformism, inspired by figures such as John Foxe and John Cotton. Many Bostonians, including Cotton, left to take up a new life in Massachusetts.

As time went by, the drainage of the fenlands and the construction of extensive sea banks created vast areas of rich land suitable for the cultivation of crops, and led to another period of growth in the town.
