"Good in parts"
Arrived 5.30pm but had to wait 30 mins as do not open till 6.00pm. Friendly greeting. Room fine, but bathroom rather cramped. Nice to find complimentary mineral water and biscuits in room as well as usual tea/coffee making facilities. Dinner very good with very generous portions. Bizarrely breakfast only served from 8.30 onwards which was too late for me so I was provided with a 'packed' cold breakfast. Read less

"Very dated"
We travel a lot and stay in various Hotels guest etc
The staff were very good and helpful but the Blue Boar was being refurbished when we were there although there was no work going on the restaurant and bar were closed which to be honest was an inconvinance
Also on arrival there was no one there to meet us just instructions on how to get your key which was far from ideal and we didn't see any staff until the following morning .
I think the room rate is way to much and taken on booking Read less

Situated in the charming Norfolk village of Great Ryburgh near Fakenham, this traditional 17th century English country inn boasts low-beamed ceilings, an impressive inglenook fireplace in the main bar and offers a warm welcome to both regulars and new customers alike. Situated only a few miles from the historic market town of Fakenham, The Blue Boar Inn is ideally placed if you're looking for a convenient base to explore the tranquil beauty of North Norfolk, the medieval wonders of the city of Norwich or the rest of Nelson's own historic county.

Built in 1685, the Blue Boar Inn has been at the heart of village life in Great Ryburgh for over 3 centuries. This 17th century listed coaching inn, which abounds with period features, cosy corners and ingle nook fireplace, has been offering a warm welcome to travellers and guests since the reign of King Charles II – a tradition that owner James is proud to continue to the present day.

The Blue Boar Inn brings the very best ideas of contemporary food and drink, mixed them with a liberal sprinkling of old fashioned and local recipes, which has resulted in a reputation for excellence that is truly well deserved. As a native of Norfolk, James has been keen to champion everything that is best about the county and its wonderful local food and drink. At the Blue Boar Inn we don't like to shout about how good our freshly prepared food is – we let our many delighted customers do that for us. Using only the very best of locally sourced ingredients our Head Chef, James, is proud to showcase the very best that his home county has to offer.

Norfolk holds a tremendous amount of attractions and places of interest for visitors and residents alike. Probably most famous for the hundreds of miles of tranquil inland waterways that make up the Norfolk Broads Nelson's county also offers other areas of outstanding natural beauty – such as North Norfolk where The Blue Boar is happily situated.
