"Enjoyable stay at a lovely hotel"
Me and my wife were looking for a hotel for our 19th wedding anniversary and after reading the excellent reviews decided on this hotel. Everything we read on the reviews was true, my wife worries about cleanliness and even she was wowed by how clean everything was. The staff were helpful and friendly and the room had all you could want, the furniture was slightly old looking but the bathroom and bed were very modern. Overall a very enjoyable stay Read less
Likes:
The staff were so friendly and you felt nothing was too much trouble and the overall feeling around the hotel was relaxed and welcoming.
Dislikes:
The only slight negative on our stay was we didn't have much view out of our window but even that didn't really affect our stay.
Response from The Old Rectory Hotel:
Thank you for taking the time to review and congratulations on your anniversary. Pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and the staff look after you well.

"A little dated in appearance but very functional. No sign of hosts"
The bed was very comfortable and the room generally functional. The décor and furniture are very dated, as is the carpet. Tea trays were again functional but lacked any luxury. In other venues I have seen better quality teas and coffees and real milk. When I checked in (at around 6.30pm), I saw a very polite lady for a few minutes. I then saw a younger girl at breakfast who was polite but not at all friendly. Other than that I didn't see any staff at all. Really odd. Read less

Checked in at 6.30pm, went to my room to do some work, fell asleep. Woke at 9.30pm, went to the bar. It was shut, lights off and no staff. Ditto the restaurant. I had to drive to the pub to get a beer
