"A great break away"
I had booked the break away for 3 nights for my husband's birthday to Yorkshire, not having visited this particular area before, and we were not disappointed. My sister had stayed here previously so had gone on her recommendation. The pub overlooks the market square and castle. We were greeted by the very helpful and friendly landlord. The pub certainly has plenty of character and we would return. Read less

We stayed in the dale strider, a fabulous large room at the front of the hotel with large bed, and comfy seating area. Breakfast was excellent. Nice warm temperature all day. Staff friendly + helpful.
Dislikes:
Car parking can be an issue but they are trying to resolve it. May be try to encourage clientele other than the work men.

Richmond, North Yorkshire is a town of unique character and beauty which has changed little through the centuries. With the variety of shopping and its many pubs, hotels and restaurants, the proximity to the most stunning scenery anywhere to be seen, Richmond remains one of the most beautiful and rewarding places to visit in the Country.

The Yorkshire Dales has outstanding scenery, a diversity of wildlife habitats, a rich cultural heritage and peacefulness. In 1954, 1769 square kilometres was designated a national park in recognition of these most important qualities.

The Dales lie astride the Pennines in the north of England in the counties of North Yorkshire and Cumbria There are over 20 main dales, differing much from each other in character and atmosphere. To the south of the area lies a highly populated industrial area while to the north thinly settled uplands stretch to the Tees and beyond. About 20,000 people live in the scattered farms, villages and small market towns of the Dales.

The Army base of Catterick Garrison is only a ten minute drive away for families visiting or those attending the Garrison on business.
