"Wish we lived nearer - it would be fine as our local."
A thoroughly enjoyable overnight stay. Room comfortable and properly equipped, excellent food, busy bar with friendly locals, all the better for absence of piped music. Everything quiet well before 11pm and no intrusive traffic noise so sleep was undisturbed even though our room was over the bar and facing the road. Landlord Chris and his staff all friendly, welcoming and efficient, nothing a problem even though pub was exceedingly busy especially before and during food service (6.30 to 9pm). Read less
Likes:
Peaceful location, friendly welcome from landlord, staff and locals, excellent food and ale, no piped music. Large flat screen tv in room. Free wifi throughout.
Dislikes:
Check in is from 5pm without prior arrangement. Need to pre-order breakfast. (These are minor points only, not especially important). No fresh fruit at breakfast (maybe the room price doesn't permit)
