Four poster bed was so comfortable. Evening meal was excellent and breakfast was cooked to order.
Dislikes:
Couldn't hold a conversation at dinner as noisy party of men in restaurant. Not staff fault at all but a little frustrating for us.

Loved the room and view over town square. Felt comfortable in this oldy world traditional hotel.
Dislikes:
One criticism is that I found the mattress of the single bed too hard and the pillows not soft enough.

The Golden Fleece in the market square of Thirsk is listed as one of the oldest coaching inns in England. Set in the heart of Herriot country between two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this charming hotel is perfectly situated for exploring the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales National Parks.
The hotel has 25 well appointed bedrooms designed to make guests feel completely at home. All of the rooms are ensuite with tea and coffee making facilities, digital TV, trouser press and hairdryer.
A wide selection of ales is on hand to tempt the palate and the quality of food and wines in the restaurant is widely admired. The hotel is conveniently situated half way between Newcastle and Leeds and has conference facilities and function rooms suitable for meetings, private parties and wedding receptions. Guests are advised to check with reception as rooms can be noisy when a function is being held.
James Herriot fans can visit his surgery which is adjacent to the Fleece, whilst the more intrepid enthusiasts who do not mind an early start can visit the local gallops to watch throroughbreds in training. North Yorkshire is also rich in picturesque villages and market towns, Northallerton, Helmsley, Bedale and Leyburn amongst others, are well known for their fully stocked markets and local shops which provide an excellent day out. A drive to York or Harrogate brings sights and shopping of a more sophisticated kind.
